Description: Northumberland’s answer to Burns Night, celebrating the pitman poet Fred Reed of Ashington. Traditional pie and peas supper and members of the Northumbrian Language Society with poems, smallpipes and toasts to the Stotty

Event: Celebrating Morpeth’s Past - Local History Exhibition

Event: Roland Bibby Memorial Lectures
Date: Sat 14th October

Description: Annual dialect lecture - Jonnie Robinson of the British Library on “Sounds Familiar? NE Voices in the British Library Sound Archive”, followed by a special second lecture by Ian Wilson on “The Forgotten Years”, the wartime experiences in Burma of Roland Bibby, founding chairman of the Northumbrian Language Society, in this centenary year of his birth.
